Iran’s Ambassador to Egypt, Mojtaba Ferdosipour, stated that the United States has violated the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding with attacks against southern Iran and warned that Tehran possesses the capability to target Washington’s regional military presence.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Mojtaba Ferdosipour, Iran‘s Ambassador to Egypt, asserted in an interview with Al Mayadeen that the United States has violated the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding” and launched attacks against southern Iran. He emphasized that Tehran is capable of targeting Washington’s military presence in the region.

Ferdosipour added that Tehran will not agree to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz or the resumption of negotiations until Washington abides by Iran’s conditions. He noted that the US is facing challenges including midterm elections, ammunition shortages, and conflicting viewpoints within the American government regarding the war.

The Iranian diplomat further stated that Iran has the capability to target the US military fleet in the region, and any attack on Iran’s infrastructure from US bases in regional countries will be met with an Iranian response. Ferdosipour pointed out that international laws do not permit countries in the region to use their territory and airspace as a platform for attacking Iran. He called for the formation of a regional coalition for political, defense, and economic cooperation among regional nations.

The Ambassador of Iran to Egypt added that the Sirik region possesses unique geographical characteristics and its people, like all Iranians, are resilient. He stated that any aggression against it is considered a crime under international law. He further commented that the US has not yet understood that the Iranian people are a resilient nation that will never surrender.

Regarding the Mecca Declaration, Ferdosipour stated that the hidden objectives behind its formation are unclear. He emphasized that Iran is ready to cooperate to secure the interests of the region and its peoples.

These remarks by the Iranian Ambassador to Egypt come amid escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington due to attacks against Iran and the US military presence in the region, concurrently with ongoing disputes over the Strait of Hormuz and the negotiation process between the two parties.
