US Military Claims Destruction of Five Iranian Oil Tankers Following Gulf of Oman Confrontation
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Sunday evening that it had destroyed five Iranian oil tankers. The statement, citing data from Al Jazeera via Mehr News Agency, asserted that the action was taken after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) twice targeted a U.S. warship in the Gulf of Oman with ballistic missiles over the past two days.
CENTCOM claimed the tankers destroyed were named ‘Kaviz,’ ‘Sharminar,’ ‘Horizon 1,’ and ‘Risco’ in the Gulf of Oman, and ‘Darya’ near Kharg Island.
The U.S. military body further alleged that Iran utilized these tankers as part of a clandestine network valued at billions of dollars to fund the IRGC and its regional affiliates.
The American entity also claimed its warship successfully repelled Iran’s attacks, continuing its patrol operations without any American casualties or injuries, and that all actions by the IRGC against U.S. Navy vessels proved fruitless.
As of the time of this report, no official domestic Iranian entity has responded to these U.S. claims.
