Iraqi Parliament Speaker: Our Territory Must Not Be Used Against Neighbors

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament has emphasized that the nation’s territory should not be exploited to pose a threat to the security of Saudi Arabia or any other neighboring nation. He further stated that the government’s swift investigation into the individuals responsible for the attack on the Saudi pipeline is supported, underscoring the principle of state monopoly over weaponry.

Earlier, an Iraqi security source informed Shafaq News that the Shalamcheh border crossing was temporarily closed under the directive of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. Although no official reason for the closure has been provided, local sources suggest it is a precautionary measure against potential attacks.

Last night, the Prime Minister of Iraq and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces ordered an immediate inquiry into the attacks that Saudi Arabia alleged originated from Iraqi territory against its oil artery. Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaydi mandated a thorough investigation into the scope and details of these attacks, including identifying those behind them, and vowed legal action against any party proven to be involved.

Al-Zaydi also ordered the formation of an investigative committee following the assault on the Saudi oil pipeline. The Iraqi government, on Friday night, condemned the reported attacks on Saudi Arabia’s oil transfer pipeline, affirming that any aggression undermining the security, stability, or ‘brotherly relations’ between the two nations is unacceptable.
