US Representative Introduces Articles of Impeachment Against Secretary of Defense

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Republican Representative Thomas Massie of Kentucky has introduced articles of impeachment against U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. Massie, who has previously expressed dissent with his party on issues of military intervention and executive authority, filed the impeachment articles on Tuesday.

The articles accuse Hegseth of violating the War Powers Resolution by continuing U.S. military operations against Iran, which the representative described as an illegal U.S. overreach and continued escalation through the use of sanctions. Massie argued that Hegseth has participated in military operations without the constitutionally mandated authorization from Congress.

Furthermore, the impeachment resolution alleges that the Secretary of Defense violated the War Powers Resolution during the conflict in Yemen. It also accuses him of disregarding civilian protection laws, overseeing illegal killings, retaliating against a U.S. senator, and directing unauthorized operations against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

Speaking on the matter, Representative Massie stated, “Pete Hegseth deserves to be impeached, tried, removed from his position, and barred from holding any office of honor, trust, or profit under the United States.”
