U.S. Formally Withdraws from UN Human Rights Council Amid Accusations

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the U.S. Department of State announced its formal withdrawal from the United Nations Human Rights Council. The ministry claimed that the Human Rights Council promotes anti-American stances and operates in line with the demands of oppressive regimes.

The U.S. Department of State asserted that Washington will not back down from President Trump’s actions aimed at targeting the financial resources of the ruling system in Iran. This statement follows a recent report by a UN fact-finding mission concerning Iran.

The UN mission stated that there are credible reasons to believe the United States was responsible for two military attacks on a school and a sports complex in Iran in February, actions which they contend constitute war crimes. The findings of the new report by the ‘Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Iran,’ slated for presentation to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, examine the performance of the United States during what it described as an illegal military incursion into Iran, which began in February.

Reuters reported that UN experts indicated they found credible evidence suggesting American forces were responsible for an attack on the ‘Shajarat al-Tayyibah’ primary school in the city of Minab. The mission concluded that this action was a indiscriminate attack, resulting in civilian casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure, and constitutes a war crime under international law.
