Lapid: Israel Faces Serious Diplomatic Crisis Amidst Escalating West Bank Violence

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Yair Lapid, the leader of the opposition in the Israeli regime, announced on Wednesday that the entity is confronting a ‘serious diplomatic crisis’ following a surge in international condemnation over escalating settler violence in the occupied West Bank. The statements were made in a message on social media platform X, in response to remarks by French President Emmanuel Macron concerning the situation in the occupied West Bank.

Macron, speaking on Tuesday at the commencement of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, criticized the escalating violence perpetrated by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank. He asserted that these actions ‘deprive the Palestinian people of their legitimate right to live.’ The French President further noted that efforts to establish peace in the Gaza Strip ‘have failed to open any humanitarian crossings,’ describing the current situation as ‘a disgrace for all.’

Lapid criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stating, ‘The Prime Minister’s job is not to post on social media, but to change reality.’ He added, ‘We are in a serious diplomatic crisis that is already threatening Israel’s security. What has been done so far has failed, and this is a reality that cannot be denied.’ Lapid continued, ‘What did we achieve in the end? Just more election propaganda.’

The Israeli regime’s general elections are scheduled for October 27. Polls indicate that the opposition coalition is ahead of Netanyahu’s coalition, but neither side has yet secured enough seats to form a government. Netanyahu has led the current Israeli regime’s cabinet since December 2022. He faces corruption charges, and the International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant in connection with accusations of war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip.
