Kremlin States Putin Ready for Meeting with Trump Amidst Ongoing Ukraine Conflict
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Kremlin has stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, informed reporters that while specific details regarding any high-level meetings are not currently available, President Putin remains prepared for a meeting with President Trump. Both leaders have previously emphasized their readiness for further encounters during their telephone conversations, should the need arise.
Regarding the possibility of a meeting between President Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Peskov reiterated Russia’s clear position. He stated that President Putin has indicated Zelensky is welcome to visit Moscow if he desires, with necessary security guarantees to be provided. Otherwise, Peskov described holding a summit before the conclusion of negotiations and expert work as impractical and a waste of time.
The Kremlin spokesperson further commented on the ongoing “militarization of Ukraine,” noting that European countries are endeavoring to allocate more financial resources for arms procurement. Peskov conveyed Moscow’s assessment that Kyiv’s activities persist, and conditions for initiating a peace negotiation process have not yet been met, despite Russia’s continued readiness for dialogue. He also accused the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and several other European nations of fueling anti-Russian sentiments.
These statements follow remarks made by President Trump a day earlier during a meeting with President Zelensky on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, where he expressed his intention to meet with President Putin again. Earlier, on September 13th, Peskov had mentioned the possibility of a meeting between Putin and Trump taking place in China.
