Lebanese Prime Minister Meets with Iranian President in New York

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Lebanese Prime Minister’s office issued a statement announcing that Prime Minister Najib Mikati met and conferred with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in New York today. The meeting took place during President Pezeshkian’s engagements at the United Nations General Assembly.

In the statement, the Lebanese Prime Minister emphasized that Lebanon has paid a significant cost for its stability and does not wish to become a theater for regional conflicts or a conduit for messages. He reiterated Lebanon’s priorities, which include the withdrawal of Israel from Lebanese territories, the cessation of aggressions, the consolidation of state authority, and the exclusive control of weapons by the government. Mikati also highlighted the historical relationship between Lebanon and Iran, expressing Beirut’s keenness to foster a healthy state-to-state relationship.

During the meeting, the Lebanese Prime Minister requested that the Iranian President appoint a new ambassador to Beirut.
