Xi Jinping: China and US Harm Each Other Through Confrontation

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Chinese President Xi Jinping stated during a meeting with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, at the White House, that China and the United States are harmed by confrontation. President Xi, who was in New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly, said that China is working to expand cooperation horizons with the United States. He highlighted that China and the U.S. bear a historic responsibility for advancing human development. Xi Jinping emphasized that relations between China and the United States, despite existing differences, should be strengthened with the aim of identifying common ground. “We must cooperate, as the interests of China and the United States are interconnected,” Xi stated, adding that Beijing welcomes American companies on its soil and hopes for fair treatment from the U.S. The Chinese President also noted that the development of artificial intelligence should be under human control and that Beijing is prepared to enhance cooperation with the United States in the fight against narcotics. “China and the United States must live in peace together, as we benefit from cooperation and suffer from confrontation,” Xi Jinping remarked. He further elaborated that China and the United States should be on a path of “competition,” not “conflict,” and should avoid the trap of engaging in conflict. During the meeting, the Chinese President extended an invitation for 100,000 American youths to study in China over the next five years.
