US Senator Criticizes Envoy Selection for Iran Talks, Calls Negotiators ‘Dummies’

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Senator Ruben Gallego, in an interview with MS Now, explicitly referred to American negotiators involved in issues concerning Iran as “dummies.” He highlighted concerns about the individuals appointed to these sensitive positions, noting their backgrounds that do not necessarily align with complex international diplomacy.

The senator pointed out the involvement of figures like Steve Witcoff, an individual primarily involved in real estate and land use regulations, questioning his suitability for leading diplomatic negotiations. Gallego further questioned why Witcoff and a Trump family member were representing the United States in discussions with Iran, suggesting that more qualified individuals should be deployed.

“These are not the best negotiators we should be sending for this task,” Gallego stated. He emphasized the need for sustained, long-term negotiations but expressed doubt that such a process could be effectively managed with the current team. The senator asserted that the United States is not leveraging its most intelligent individuals in these critical discussions, implying that the responsibility has fallen to those he described as among the “least intelligent people present.” This comes at a time when the U.S. faces what he termed some of Iran’s “best negotiators.”
