US and China Agree on Tariffs for Non-Sensitive Goods, Establish Agricultural Market Access Working Group
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the White House announced that China and the United States have agreed on proposals for more favorable tariffs on $30 billion of non-sensitive goods in their bilateral trade. The announcement was made by the White House, citing data published by Anatolia News Agency, which referenced Mehr News Agency.
The two countries also established a working group to address barriers to market access in the agricultural sector. U.S. exports in this agreement include agricultural products, aquatic products, wood, cosmetics, and medical equipment, while U.S. imports from China will encompass small home appliances, toys, decorations, and child car seats.
China has also committed to importing at least 10 million tons of coal from the United States annually in 2027 and 2028. The two sides also discussed addressing U.S. concerns regarding shortages of rare earth elements and other critical minerals, and restoring shipment levels to appropriate volumes.
The White House stated that Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump also discussed global issues, including Russia, North Korea, and Iran, and emphasized that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons. Both sides also underscored the importance of establishing stable strategic relations and consulted on arms control among the United States, Russia, and China.
Furthermore, China and the United States agreed to use the term ‘super intelligence’ for emerging technologies and to initiate bilateral discussions on the risks and benefits of these technologies. The first meeting for this dialogue is scheduled to take place by November 2026.
