Massive Explosion Rocks Damascus Suburbs Near Power Plant
A powerful explosion reverberated through the eastern Ghouta region near Damascus, Syria, originating from a gas pipeline rupture close to the Tishreen thermal power station, the country’s largest electricity generation facility.
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Syrian Al-Ekhbariya network reported that the sound heard in eastern Ghouta, in the Damascus suburbs, was caused by the explosion of a gas transmission pipeline near the Tishreen thermal power plant in Haran al-Awamid. Tishreen is the largest electricity generation facility in the region.
As of the latest reports, there have been no official statements regarding the cause of the explosion, the extent of damages, or potential casualties.
