Dubai Court Rules Flydubai Incident Was Terrorist Attack by Co-Pilot

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Public Prosecution in the United Arab Emirates has announced that investigations into the Flydubai flight incident indicate the co-pilot intended to carry out a terrorist operation. The co-pilot reportedly attacked the captain with an emergency axe, attempting to seize control of the aircraft.
A spokesperson for Flydubai stated that the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation. ABC News identified the suspect in the Flydubai incident as Hamam Al-Hammami, a 29-year-old Omani national born in the UAE to a Syrian mother.
Intelligence officials revealed that Al-Hammami was identified as a security risk and suspended from flying in 2024 during his internship with Oman Air due to “extremist” views, although he continued in an administrative role. Authorities are now investigating how he was able to resume piloting duties and become a co-pilot on a flight bound for occupied territories despite this history.
Sources familiar with the matter report that Al-Hammami, after transferring from Saudi Arabia to the UAE, cooperated with investigators and stated his objective was to crash the plane in occupied territories.
