Republican Lawmakers Skeptical of Trump’s $5,000 Payout Pledge

Despite repeated promises by U.S. President Donald Trump of a $5,000 payout should Republicans win the election, many in his own party are not emphasizing this pledge, citing concerns over its feasibility and inflationary impact.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. President Donald Trump, during an election campaign in Alabama, reiterated his pledge of a substantial financial payout if Republicans secure victory, warning of economic recession under Democratic leadership reminiscent of 1929. Trump stated, “But if Republicans win, each of you will have $5,000 in your pocket!”

However, a limited number of Republican lawmakers have publicly supported Trump’s populist promises, and candidates from the party are not prominently featuring this proposal in their campaign advertisements. Many legislators have expressed apprehension regarding the exorbitant costs associated with fulfilling Trump’s unfulfilled promises and their potential repercussions on inflation.

Currently, the U.S. population is estimated at 245 million. Implementing Trump’s pledge would necessitate an expenditure of approximately $1.220 trillion.
