102-Year-Old Woman Dies in Spain Flooding
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Spanish local authorities announced on Saturday that flooding in the southeastern town of Madrigueras has resulted in the death of a 102-year-old woman. The town of Madrigueras, with a population of approximately 4,000, is situated near the city of Albacete in the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain.
Officials reported that ninety people required rescue operations due to the widespread flooding in the town. Local Spanish media also reported that the lifeless body of the elderly woman was discovered in her home, where the floodwaters had reached a depth of one meter (3.2 feet).
The severe flooding in the region is attributed to continuous torrential downpours, which have transformed some streets into raging rivers. Spanish authorities stated that rainfall in Madrigueras reached approximately 140 liters per square meter.
