US Defense Secretary Claims Increased Oil Flow Through Strait of Hormuz Amidst Geopolitical Tensions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, in remarks delivered at the Department of Defense, contended that more oil is currently passing through the Strait of Hormuz than before recent confrontations began. He attributed this alleged increase to “extraordinary pilots” managing the airspace, a statement presented as justification for some of the economic difficulties within the United States stemming from what the source describes as former President Trump’s expensive actions against Iran.
Speaking in a campaign-style address ahead of the U.S. midterm congressional elections, the Secretary of Defense sought to counter reports detailing challenges faced by American military personnel. Hegseth stated that despite significant publicity surrounding the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group, 80 percent of its personnel had volunteered for service extensions. The USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier spent 286 consecutive days at sea, engaging in combat operations and blockades against Iran in West Asia.
Media reports had previously highlighted psychological issues and supply shortages among the crew members of the USS Abraham Lincoln. However, U.S. President Donald Trump hastily dismissed these reports, claiming the carrier’s deployment had “not been long enough!”
