Nigerian Military Helicopter Crashes With 32 Aboard in Ondo State

A Nigerian military helicopter carrying 32 people has crashed in Ondo State, authorities confirmed on Monday. The aircraft lost contact while en route from Benin to Lagos, prompting an immediate search and rescue operation.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Nigeria‘s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, announced on Monday that a military helicopter carrying 32 individuals crashed in Ondo State. Aviation officials were first alerted to the incident by air traffic controllers after the helicopter, identified as NGR 931, lost communication at 9:13 AM. The aircraft was on a flight path from Benin to Lagos when contact was lost. All attempts to establish radio communication with the crew were unsuccessful. Further details confirmed that the helicopter crashed near the naval base in Igbokoda, Ondo State. Initial reports indicate that the helicopter had 25 passengers and 7 crew members on board. The wreckage of the helicopter has been located, and search and rescue teams are actively working at the crash site.
