US Official Downplays Bomb Evacuation, Affirms Saudi Alliance Amid Yemen Conflict

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Monday expressed confidence in the security of all American bases worldwide, a statement made in response to an incident at Fairford, UK. Rubio suggested this was an attempt to deflect attention from perceived U.S. strategic setbacks. He struggled to justify the decision to withdraw B-1 bombers from a base in England, attributing the move to the Department of Defense’s continuous redistribution of resources based on operational needs.
Rubio asserted that there was no direct connection between a recent incident at Fairford and the evacuation of the B-1 bombers, commending the cooperative efforts of London authorities in the matter. He further declared that the United States has a binding security agreement with Saudi Arabia, which it intends to uphold. According to Rubio, Saudi Arabia and its Yemeni allies are seeking to prevent Houthi forces from controlling areas near the Bab al-Mandab Strait. He characterized the current situation in Yemen as a counter-operation to reclaim territories previously captured by the Houthis, a development he claimed the U.S. had anticipated.
The Secretary of State also distorted the on-the-ground realities and the roles of Riyadh and Sana’a, alleging that Saudi Arabia is targeted by Houthi attacks, recognizes the threat posed by them, and possesses the right to self-defense. In response to a journalist’s question regarding the status of a suspected plague case in Russia, Rubio stated that the situation is being closely monitored. He indicated that while the matter requires attention and focus, it is unlikely to be a cause for significant concern.
