Expert Analyzes Iran’s Potential Responses to U.S.-Israeli Aggression

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, strategic affairs analyst Abdel Bari Atwan, in an article for Rai al-Youm newspaper, has examined recent escalations in Yemen involving Saudi Arabia. He suggests that if reports from The New York Times are accurate regarding U.S. President Donald Trump granting a green light for military and intelligence intervention to support Saudi Arabia in the Yemen conflict, this action could hasten a comprehensive military confrontation between Iran and the United States.
This possibility is reportedly bolstered by news of advancements by Aden’s mercenary forces on the western coast, recapturing strategic areas such as Mayun Island overlooking the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the port of Mokha, with assistance from American spy satellites. While the Ansar Allah movement has denied these reports, U.S. support for Saudi Arabia in the war has become palpable, especially after the U.S. government affirmed a binding mutual defense pact. The U.S. military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) is set to intervene under this pact to support the Saudi side in the Yemen war.
Atwan’s analysis points out that this decision comes at a time when a shift in U.S. priorities against Iran and a return to the Iranian nuclear file were already evident. He notes the threats from senior Iranian military and political officials concerning any escalation by the U.S. against Iran. The deployment of 3,000 U.S. troops to occupied territories, the dispatch of additional bomber and fighter aircraft, advanced air defense systems, and the declaration of a state of emergency in the Israeli regime’s army all heighten the likelihood of an imminent U.S.-Israeli aggression against Iran. This is particularly true after President Trump rejected Iran’s seven-point diplomatic peace plan for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, effectively closing the door to negotiations.
Atwan emphasizes that Iranian officials are fully aware of and well-prepared for the military approach of the U.S. and the Israeli regime. He suggests potential Iranian responses could include damaging up to three U.S. aircraft carriers and over 20 warships in the Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean, and Red Sea by extending missile range to over 1,000 kilometers, or by increasing casualties among American soldiers and mobilizing over 33 million ‘martyrdom-seeking’ forces, including female combat units who have undergone training. Atwan concludes that the next three weeks could be decisive not only for redrawing the borders and power centers of the Middle East and West Asia but for the entire world.
