Hamas Welcomes Nobel Peace Prize Nomination for Pillay, Cites Gaza Justice

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hamas stated in a released statement that the selection of Pillay, who boasts an impressive background in fighting South Africa’s apartheid regime and heading the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, reflects the importance of accountability for perpetrators of international crimes.
The Palestinian movement referenced the findings of the independent international commission chaired by Pillay in September 2025. Hamas underscored that this commission’s conclusions, acknowledging the occurrence of “genocidal acts” in the Gaza Strip, have recognized the devastating scope of the occupying forces’ actions.
Hamas further urged the international community to take concrete action to translate existing evidence into legal proceedings and prosecute war criminals, stressing the imperative to end the policy of “impunity.”
This international recognition arrives concurrently with strong reactions and threats from the United States aimed at preventing the International Criminal Court from prosecuting Israeli officials.
