Yemen Conflict Escalates, Displacing Hundreds of Thousands and Harming Children

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a new crisis is unfolding in Yemen, with over 200,000 people displaced since the beginning of August due to escalating clashes. This represents the highest level of displacement since the 2022 ceasefire, according to information released by Mehr News Agency, citing Al-Youm News Website.
Mohammed Yahya, Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs at the United Nations, emphasized that the inaction of the Security Council will come at the cost of human lives. Reports indicate that at least 46 civilians have been killed and 130 injured in the past two months, with half of the casualties being children. Furthermore, 2.2 million children under the age of five are suffering from severe malnutrition, and the collapse of the health system has doubled the risk of widespread diseases like cholera and measles.
Concurrently, the CEO of Save the Children warned about the dire situation of Yemeni children, describing it as a deadly combination of conflict, displacement, and infectious diseases. The organization stressed the necessity of protecting children from military attacks and urged Security Council members to leverage their influence to halt the harm inflicted upon Yemen’s future generation.
