Russia Accuses Europe of Provoking Developing Nations Over Food Security

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Vasily Nebenzya, Russia‘s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, has asserted that European nations are pursuing a specific objective with their pronouncements on food security: to pit the Global South against Russia.
Nebenzya added that European countries, by expressing concern for the hungry, prefer to disregard the actions of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s administration in Ukraine, which have led to disruptions in the supply of grains and fertilizers, resulting in shortages and increased inflation.
The conflict in Ukraine, which commenced in February 2022, significantly disrupted the global supply of grains by interfering with agricultural cultivation and harvesting, damaging storage and transportation infrastructure, and creating insecurity along Black Sea export routes.
Russia and Ukraine are major global exporters of wheat and corn. Reductions or cessation of their exports, coupled with rising transportation costs and agricultural inputs, have fueled volatility in food prices and exacerbated concerns about food security, particularly in importing and low-income countries.
