UN Official Urges End to Israeli Aggression Against Syria

A United Nations official has called on the Security Council to halt Israel’s ongoing aggressions against Syria, emphasizing the need for respect for the 1974 ceasefire agreement and Syria’s territorial integrity. The plea comes as Syria faces escalating challenges, particularly in its southern regions.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a senior United Nations official speaking at a Security Council session strongly urged an end to Israeli aggressions targeting Syria, with a particular focus on the southern parts of the country. Citing data from the Mehr News Agency and Al-Manar, the Deputy Special Envoy of the UN to Syria highlighted that these actions must cease immediately.

The official referenced the Secretary-General of the United Nations’ appeal for strict adherence to the 1974 ceasefire agreement. Furthermore, the call underscored the critical importance of safeguarding Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity amidst the ongoing conflict and external interventions. The representative also drew attention to the precarious situation in Syria, specifically mentioning the province of Suwayda, and advocated for the initiation of internal dialogues as a crucial step towards overcoming the current challenges.

During the same Security Council meeting, Ibrahim Al-Alabi, the representative of Syria to the United Nations, asserted that the consequences of the war and Israeli aggressions should not be allowed to undermine the country’s hard-won achievements. He stressed the necessity of protecting Syria’s progress against these detrimental impacts.
