Belarus President: Readiness for War is Key to Preventing It

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, during a visit to the “Obuz-Lesnovsky” military training ground in Brest Oblast, stressed the importance of the country’s armed forces being prepared to counter potential threats. He stated that Belarus has no intention of attacking anyone but is preparing for war to prevent it from happening.
Lukashenko pointed to the rising military spending of Belarus’s neighboring countries, noting that they are investing billions of dollars in arming their militaries. In addition to conducting exercises near the borders, these nations are deploying new military units and formations in border regions.
The Belarusian President emphasized that his country must be ready to respond appropriately to potential developments. He identified reliable communication and command systems for the armed forces as a primary requirement for this readiness.
“We do not intend to attack anyone. We are realists and know that initiating a war with one of our neighbors could mean suicide for us. So why would we start a war?” Lukashenko questioned.
He further clarified that conducting military exercises does not signify plans to attack neighboring countries. Instead, the objective of these actions is to prepare for confronting potential threats and safeguarding the nation’s security.
