Pentagon May Delay Report on Minab School Attack Until After US Midterms

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, senior officials at the U.S. Department of Defense are planning to postpone the publication of an internal report regarding the attack on a school in Minab, southern Iran, at least until after the U.S. midterm elections. This decision is reportedly driven by concerns about the report’s potential influence on the electoral process.
Sources familiar with the confidential deliberations, who requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the discussions and a lack of authorization to speak publicly, indicated that advisors to Secretary of War Pete Hegseth had informed some Pentagon staff of this plan. The midterm congressional elections in the United States are scheduled to take place on November 3, 2026.
The reported delay comes as the Minab school attack and the methods used to identify the target have become a contentious issue surrounding U.S. military operations in the conflict with Iran. Bloomberg had previously reported in an investigative piece that outdated information, a failure to update data related to the school’s location, and deficiencies in the target vetting process were contributing factors to the incident.
The outlet also reported that some Pentagon personnel were aware of the possibility of U.S. responsibility in the early hours following the attack. However, the final military investigation report has not yet been publicly released. President Donald Trump has previously made statements regarding Washington’s responsibility for this attack, but the U.S. administration has not yet officially accepted responsibility.
The attack on the Minab school occurred on February 28, 2026, resulting in the deaths of a significant number of students and civilians. Media reports and international reviews of the attack’s scope have raised questions regarding the accuracy of U.S. military intelligence and adherence to civilian protection requirements.
