Syrian Regime Negotiates Deployment of 10,000 Fighters to Yemen Conflict

Senior officials from the self-proclaimed Syrian regime have reportedly held high-level military discussions in Saudi Arabia, focusing on arrangements to deploy approximately 10,000 Syrian fighters, primarily extremist foreign terrorists, to participate in the ongoing conflict in Yemen.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, citing data published by the Mehr News Agency and Al-Akhbar newspaper, a high-ranking military delegation from the self-proclaimed Syrian regime recently visited the Saudi capital, Riyadh, for consultations with Saudi officials.

Yemeni intelligence sources informed Al-Akhbar that the primary agenda of these negotiations revolved around the logistical and operational planning for the transfer of around 10,000 Syrian combatants to engage in the war in Yemen. These individuals are expected to be largely selected from among foreign extremist terrorists.

These reports emerge as the regime referred to as ‘Julani’ has denied news concerning Damascus’s decision to dispatch thousands of armed elements to southern Saudi Arabia. Nevertheless, a Syrian military advisory group has paralleled the ongoing negotiations in Riyadh with a visit to the regions of Najran and Asir in southern Saudi Arabia.

Following setbacks for Saudi Arabia and its allied forces in Yemen, several Arab regimes are reportedly attempting to bolster the morale of the Saudi military and overshadow the repeated victories of the Yemeni armed forces by deploying foreign personnel, even if symbolically. In this context, the government of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has also announced its intention to send Egyptian forces to Saudi Arabia. Pakistan had previously announced its plan to deploy troops to Saudi Arabia to assist the Kingdom in the Yemen war.
