Trump Reportedly Considers Turning White House Press Briefing Room into Swimming Pool

U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly revived discussions about converting the White House press briefing room into an indoor swimming pool, a move opposed by some advisors who believe it would hinder media access.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, based on data published by the Mehr News Agency, The New York Times reported that U.S. President Donald Trump has once again floated the idea of relocating journalists from the White House press briefing room and transforming the space into an indoor swimming pool. The pool in question was originally built in 1933 for then-U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Trump has reportedly brought up this idea multiple times before, but his advisors had previously objected, arguing that the presence of journalists near the president facilitates communication and information dissemination to the media.

However, a number of Trump’s close advisors now support relocating the press corps to another government-owned building. Such a move, if implemented, would further restrict journalists’ direct access to the president.

The White House press briefing room is one of the most significant venues for communication between the U.S. government and the media. Press conferences and question-and-answer sessions with the White House spokesperson are held in this space, allowing journalists based at the White House to follow the administration’s positions.
