US Claims Economic Campaign Against Iran Successful Amidst Regional Tensions

The United States claims significant success in its economic campaign to isolate Iran, asserting the country is unable to access dollars and its regional financing has diminished, while geopolitical tensions persist following past retaliatory actions.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has asserted that Washington’s ongoing efforts to economically isolate Iran have been “highly successful.” These statements from U.S. officials emerge as they seek to justify their policies against Iran ahead of the midterm elections.

Bessent claimed that Iran is no longer able to access dollars and that the financing for its regional allies has decreased. He further alleged on Monday that no Iranian oil shipments are currently at sea, a situation he suggested might be unprecedented since the discovery of oil in Iran.

These remarks come after U.S. President Donald Trump acknowledged on Thursday that Iran requires medical aid and other assistance. He also refuted reports by The Wall Street Journal detailing a secret message from JD Vance to Major General Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, proposing the resumption of peace talks.

The report indicates that the United States and the Zionist regime initiated attacks against Iran on February 28, 2026, to which Tehran responded with its own retaliatory strikes. A memorandum of understanding to cease hostilities was reached by both parties in mid-June, but reciprocal attacks resumed after a period due to perceived breaches of commitment by the United States. Despite the cessation of direct military confrontations, the conflict continues without a final agreement, with Washington reportedly pursuing economic pressures against Tehran.

The escalation of tensions and the conflict against Iran have also disrupted shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, leading to increased fuel prices and industrial goods in many countries worldwide.
