The French Ministry of the Interior reported on Saturday that an estimated 320,000 individuals took part in widespread protests held throughout the nation. The demonstrations were marked by escalating tensions, notably in Paris, where law enforcement officers deployed tear gas to disperse crowds following clashes with demonstrators.

Reports from regional correspondents also highlighted similar unrest in the streets of Lyon, located in the country’s northern region, where police and protesters engaged in direct confrontations. Prior to these developments, student unions across France announced plans to resume the blockading of universities and high schools beginning Tuesday as part of an ongoing wave of anti-government mobilization.

According to BFMTV, a spokesperson for the student union urged students and pupils to heed the joint coalition’s call for educational institution closures. The representative confirmed that campuses would remain blocked on Thursday ahead of participation in a broader demonstration called by striking workers on November 5. Organizers expressed hope that higher turnout in the upcoming rallies would reinforce the legitimacy of their demands.
