Over 200 Arrested Across German Cities Following Violent Protests

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, German police authorities reported the arrest of over 200 people late Saturday following violent clashes in multiple regions of the country. The demonstrations, initiated by the Generation Z group, took place across more than 30 cities, drawing large numbers of young participants who voiced demands for increased educational funding, a reduction in the cost of living, and opposition to the reinstatement of mandatory military service.
Following initial peaceful gatherings, individuals in Berlin, Frankfurt, and Hamburg erected street blockades and clashed with police officers by throwing fireworks, stones, and bottles, prompting security forces to deploy water cannons in certain areas. In Frankfurt, masked individuals raided several shops, including a gun store, and stole at least two firearms—which police successfully recovered—while over 30 people were arrested in the city.
The number of detainees in Hamburg reached 120, with 11 police officers injured during the unrest. In Berlin, 56 individuals were temporarily detained and 27 officers sustained injuries, while at least five people were arrested in Cologne following confrontations with security forces. By Sunday morning, relative calm had returned to the affected cities, and law enforcement agencies continued investigating the incidents and the resulting property damage.
