The head of the political office of Hamas arrived in Egypt at the head of a high-level delegation to consult with the Egyptian authorities about the ceasefire in Gaza. |
A high-ranking delegation headed by Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Hamas political bureau, arrived in Cairo this morning (Tuesday) to discuss the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip with the Egyptian authorities.
Arab 48 news site, quoting a source in the Hamas movement, reported that the dialogue between Hamas and Egyptian officials will focus on proposals for a ceasefire and reducing the suffering of the Palestinian people.
The Hamas movement also confirmed this report by issuing a statement and said that political and field issues will be discussed in this meeting.
In the Hamas statement, it is mentioned that the talks that are going on in the war situation include “the efforts made for a ceasefire and providing aid to the citizens and realizing the goals of the Palestinian people”.
In the past few months, the capital of Egypt has witnessed quadrilateral and indirect talks between the United States, Egypt, Qatar and Israel, in which the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the exchange of prisoners have been discussed.
None of these talks have led to a ceasefire so far; The condition that the head of the political office of Hamas has emphasized is that he will not be satisfied with anything less than that and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces.
