UNICEF: Some people in Gaza don’t even eat a single meal a day
The United Nations Children's Fund has warned of severe food shortages in the besieged Gaza Strip. |
Unicef said while pointing to the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza: “Many in Gaza are surviving on only one meal a day, and others do not find even one meal.”
According to Al Jazeera, this UN agency announced that drinking water is also scarce in the besieged Gaza Strip and that “children need a ceasefire now”.
The World Health Organization also announced on Monday that the sharp increase in malnutrition among children and pregnant and lactating women in the Gaza Strip is a serious threat to their health. Statistics show that 1 out of every 6 children under the age of two in Gaza is acutely malnourished. Also, 90% of children under two years old and 95% of pregnant and lactating women are facing extreme food poverty.
On the other hand, hunger and weakness accelerate the spread of diseases. Statistics show that at least 90% of children under the age of 5 have one or more infectious diseases. =”fa fa-circle”/> International International
