Qatar plans to develop the largest natural gas field in the world

Qatari officials announced that by discovering a large amount of gas in the North Field, the country plans to increase its production to 142 million tons per year by 2030.

Qatar announced its plans to develop the North Field, the largest natural gas field in the world, and announced that it will increase its production to 142 million tons per year by 2030.

According to Al-Nashrah report, Saad Al Kaabi, CEO of Qatar Energy, said in a press conference: The new development of the field project, which is called North West, will add 16 million tons of additional liquefied natural gas to the existing development plans. The current production volume is about 85%.

He further added: Recent studies have shown that the northern field contains a large amount of additional gas, which is estimated to be around 240 trillion cubic feet, which will increase the gas reserves in Qatar from 1760 to 2000 trillion cubic feet.

Al Kaabi emphasized: These data will enable Qatar to start a new project for the production of liquid natural gas in the western part of the North field with a production capacity of about 16 million tons per year.

This will increase Qatar’s total liquefied natural gas production to around 142 million tonnes per year once this new development is completed before the end of this decade, which Al Kaabi said would mean an increase of around 85% compared to current production levels. .
