Today (Thursday), the Egyptian president, while warning against any military operation in the Palestinian city of Rafah, emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi during today’s meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and his accompanying delegation who traveled to Cairo about They discussed the current situation in the Gaza Strip and “reviewed the latest developments related to joint efforts to mediate to achieve a ceasefire and exchange of prisoners”.

In this meeting, Al-Sisi emphasized the necessity of establishing a ceasefire in Gaza, referring to the humanitarian disaster and famine that threatens the lives of innocent civilians, and warned of the dangerous consequences of any military operation in the city of Rafah.

Egyptian President also emphasized the need for immediate action to bring sufficient amounts of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

Al-Sisi also emphasized the need to open the perspectives of the political process through intensive action to activate the two-state solution and the formation of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The US foreign minister also praised Egypt’s efforts to establish a ceasefire and emphasized Washington’s desire to continue coordination and consultations with the aim of restoring stability and security to the region.

He praised the strategic cooperation between the two countries and the continuation of consultations on various regional and international issues.

Al-Masri al-Yum site wrote that “the parties agreed to take all measures to guarantee the delivery of humanitarian aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip and to oppose the displacement of Palestinians outside their land under any circumstances.”

Previously, Al Jazeera reported that today Cairo will host a six-party Arab meeting between the foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, and the UAE, as well as the Secretary of the Implementation Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, with the presence of the US Secretary of State.

Also, some sources have told Sky News Arabic that the foreign ministers of the Arab countries will gather at the same time as the US Secretary of State visits Cairo in a joint meeting in order to sign a political document called the Arab Compromise Plan.

Blinken has traveled to the region since Wednesday and for the sixth time since his appointment as Foreign Minister. The visit was made with the aim of consulting on the efforts made to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza amid growing tensions in Washington’s relations with its ally, Tel Aviv.

Blinken met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan of Saudi Arabia in Jeddah on Wednesday and discussed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and efforts to increase aid to the Palestinians.

Blinken also held a private bilateral meeting today in Cairo’s Harir Palace with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.

The US foreign minister has traveled to the West Asia to consult about the ceasefire in Gaza, since the beginning of the devastating war of the Zionist regime against the Palestinians, especially in the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in the martyrdom of nearly 32 thousand people, the US has been the biggest supporter of this regime and He has vetoed several Security Council resolutions regarding the ceasefire in Gaza.
