Moscow: Ukraine’s peace talks in Switzerland without Russia’s participation are doomed to failure
Genda Gatilov criticized Switzerland for changing its neutral status in the Ukraine war and called the country's peace talks doomed to failure. |
The war in Ukraine started on February 24, 2022, and in the last 2 years, it was Russia that had the upper hand on the battle fronts. However, Kiev, with the support of Western officials, is seeking to organize peace conferences to end the war without Russia’s participation. This year’s conference will be hosted by Switzerland.
According to the Reuters news agency, Genda Gatilov, the permanent representative of Russia in international organizations based in Geneva, announced today (Tuesday) that Moscow does not see a chance for Switzerland to advance the Ukraine peace plan.
Russia has not been invited to this year’s conference like last year’s Ukraine peace conference.
Gatilov further emphasized: As far as I know, there is no possibility for Switzerland to organize or lead anything. The Swiss initiative is doomed to failure without the participation of Russia.
He further pointed out: Although Russia is not against any negotiations to end the war, we do not participate in the Swiss talks. Unfortunately, Switzerland has lost its neutrality by standing on the side of one of the parties to the conflict.
These words come after Switzerland, although it is not part of NATO and the European Union, implements the sanctions of this union against Russia due to the war in Ukraine and 7 billion 700 million francs (equivalent to 8 billion 530 million dollars) from It has blocked the assets of this country in its banks.
Gatilov called this act of Switzerland stealing Russian money and added: This is why we believe that Switzerland has lost its status as a neutral country in international relations.
