Aid reduction and three million children suffering from malnutrition in Afghanistan
The World Food Program, expressing concern over the conditions in Afghanistan and the reduction of aid, announced that three million children in this country will be malnourished this year. |
According to the regional office of Tasnim news agency, “Muna Sheikh”, head of the nutrition department of the World Food Program in Afghanistan released a video on the organization’s X channel and warned that three million children in this country will suffer from malnutrition this year.
He added: Since last year, due to the reduction of foreign aid, malnourished children have been going to the centers. Treatment has increased in Afghanistan.
Muna Sheikh stated that the World Food Program in Afghanistan is able to take care of about 1.6 million children.
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) had previously announced that many families in Afghanistan does not have the ability to prepare food for its children.
The International Organization to Save the Children also emphasized in a report last December that about 8 million Afghan children will face a hunger crisis in 2024.
This organization had announced that the international community should immediately increase humanitarian aid to save lives in Afghanistan.
