American lawmakers request Biden to impose restrictions on Chinese companies

The security competition between China and the United States is now at a stage where both sides are banning the activities of companies that they fear are related to the security parties. According to the Reuters news agency, American lawmakers today (Monday) asked the Biden government to include 7 companies active in the field of biotechnology in the list of companies cooperating with the Chinese military.

In a letter written to Biden by Rep. Michael Gallagher, a Republican, and Rep. Raja Krishnamurthy, a Democrat, it is stated: “We urge Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to take the necessary steps in this area, because Beijing can use the power of biotechnology.” Strengthen your army.

The joint letter of these two legislators from the two main American parties only shows a part of the concerns that are now in the American society about the dangers of China gaining power and Beijing’s use of biotechnology in order to strengthen itself.

Now the US Congress is considering a plan that would ban US federal agencies from working with Chinese biotech companies.

US intelligence officials told senators in February that Chinese pharmaceutical company WuXi had transferred US intellectual property to Beijing without permission.
