Human rights groups complain about Germany for sending weapons to Israel

Several human rights groups in Germany have sued the government of this country for sending weapons to the occupied territories at the same time as the brutal attacks of the Zionist regime on Gaza continue.

According to the Guardian newspaper, in the midst of Israel’s attacks on Gaza and at the same time as the frustration of European countries’ effective action increases, German human rights groups are suing the Berlin government. It is said that the aforementioned complaints will be made by four human rights groups.

Reports indicate that Germany has come under pressure from human rights groups yesterday (Thursday) with a new request to cancel all arms sales to Israel.

According to one of these complaints in the German courts, the judges of this European country have been asked to quickly order the government to cancel all the licenses for the sale of weapons to the Zionist regime that were issued after the October 7th attack. slow.

According to this newspaper, Germany is the largest arms exporter to Israel after the United States, and it plays a more important role than England in supplying important weapons to this regime.

The Guardian has reported that this action is actually a complaint against the ministries of economic affairs and climate measures in Germany, which are responsible for issuing licenses for the export of military weapons.

It is said that the aforementioned lawsuits will have the most practical effect on the sale of three thousand German anti-tank weapons.

Wolfgang Kalk, Secretary General of the “European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights of the European Union” based in Berlin, said in this context: The basic prerequisite for Germany’s foreign policy based on laws and human rights is respect for the law in decision-making. If Germany exports weapons to a country involved in a war where serious violations of international humanitarian law are evident, then it cannot stay true to its values.

This newspaper has emphasized in another part of its article: The aforementioned lawsuits against the government of Berlin are separate from the case that Nicaragua presented this week at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, according to which Berlin, by continuing to send weapons to Israel, The Geneva Conventions have been disobeyed.

However, while defending its actions, the German government says that it has received the necessary guarantees from Israel and currently has no reason to hesitate in sending weapons to the occupied territories.

The lawyers of the German government have also announced: Germany exported 203 million euros of defense equipment to Israel in October 2023 (October 1402), while this amount reached one million euros in March (March and April).
