France’s € 5 billion military assistance to Ukraine at the Kiev’s “Eager Summit”!
reports Mehr News Agency France, which hosted the European Summit focusing on Ukraine, announced the Paris € 5 billion military assistance to Kiev.
The summit, which France and Britain have called the “enthusiasm coalition”, reflects Europeans’ concern over the decline in US support for Ukraine in its more than three-year war with Russia.
Among the officials present at the summit include British, Poland and Italian prime ministers as well as Mark Route, NATO Secretary-General and Vice President of Turkey.
The gathering came after Ukrainian President Walodimir Zelksky agreed to continue the ceasefire negotiations earlier this month to ensure the continuation of US military and intelligence assistance.
US President Donald Trump has called for a mediator for the immediate end of the Ukrainian war. However, the set of bilateral negotiations between Washington and the parties to the war has not so far led to a significant change in the conflict.
Russia and Ukraine have announced March 4 that they have reached an agreement on stopping attacks on energy infrastructure, but the parties have accused each other of violating the agreement.
“We will discuss the urgent support of Ukraine in the first place,” Macron said at a joint news conference with Zelksky. This support must continue because resistance is mandatory.
He also said that France has pledged to Ukraine to provide a € 5 billion military aid including missiles, fighters and defensive equipment. Zelksky also claimed that other Kiev allies are still unveiling their auxiliary packages today!
The French Presidential Office announced earlier that Macron had spoken to Trump on the eve of the summit.
