Russia’s Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna Announces: Iran-U.S. Talks Are Accelerating
According to a report by the English section of “Webangah News Agency,” citing the news agency mehr, Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, stated in a post on the social media platform Telegram that the second round of talks between Iran and the U.S. regarding Iran’s nuclear program took place on Sunday at the Omani embassy in Muscat. This meeting lasted approximately four hours.Unlike the first round of talks, there was no direct contact between representatives of both sides. the Omani foreign minister mediated these discussions.
Russia’s permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna further noted that while neither party commented on the outcome of this second private meeting, their preliminary assessments were entirely positive. For instance, one of the American negotiators reportedly told media outlets that “important progress has been made.””The harvest is good” has been achieved.
Mikhail Ulyanov, during his statement, added: Iran’s Foreign Minister also pointed to his own hope that the other side will come to a better understanding of the principles and objectives of the negotiations. For the second meeting, this is indeed very significant. Though, perhaps the most compelling sign of progress is the joint decision to move toward specialized working groups on technical issues this Wednesday.
He further stated: According to Iran’s Foreign Ministry, the task of experts was to create a framework for future agreement. The other side believes that preliminary results from expert discussions will be evaluated during the third round of talks—this time held in Oman—to determine their feasibility. It can be said that from all appearances, negotiations between Iran and America are currently accelerating.
