Fatima Hassouna, nicknamed “Fattoum,” was a 24-year-old Palestinian photojournalist who had earned the title “Sniper of moments” adn wished to leave behind an eternal image of herself.
Mehr News agency, International Desk, by elnaz Rahmatnejad: Fatima Hassouna, nicknamed “Fattoum,” was a Palestinian photojournalist killed in an Israeli regime airstrike on her home in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza, alongside 10 members of her family.
A graduate in multimedia from Gaza University, she had collaborated with the Palestinian Red Crescent and published her work with international agencies. She also actively participated in the Gaza International Exhibition. News of her death sparked widespread reactions on social media, with media activists describing her as “the eye of Gaza that has been extinguished.”
Fatima Hassouna believed the camera was a weapon—the memory card being its bullet—He looks through the lens, and in that moment, the camera becomes his rifle. He believed his photographs would change the world. Hosouna had also given himself the title of “The Sniper of Moments.”
This Palestinian photographer captured through his lens the stories of people enduring famine and siege. In a land drowning in death due to the crimes of the Zionist regime, he reflected life, hope, and the smiles of children.

Fatemeh’s Wedding Preparations Were Underway
Salam al-Suweirki, one of Fatemeh’s relatives, recounts: “The news of Fatemeh’s martyrdom was a great shock to everyone. Several of her brothers had been martyred in the Ghazwa (battle). Fatemeh longed to travel, explore the world, and perform Hajj after saving some money post-Ghazwa.Her dearest brother,Jahad,lived in Egypt and helped prepare her for marriage. It was planned that Fatemeh would marry her fiancé next week.”

Salem, while noting that Fatemeh was highly supportive of her husband’s cause, recalled: “She deeply loved her husband’s mission and ideals. Out of love for serving the oppressed in the struggle against hardship, she acted as a healer. Fatemeh wished to build an ideal home. She had many children and raised them well.”
