Lavrov: Resumption of Sanctions Against Iran Shames European Diplomacy

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that Iran is keen to restart negotiations with the U.S., with Moscow willing to assist.
Lavrov also mentioned that Russia and Iran are planning and working on the construction of new nuclear power plant units.
Dismissing speculation about Moscow-Tehran relations, Lavrov emphasized that claims suggesting Russia would abandon Iran if relations with the U.S. improve are false.
Regarding U.S. oil sanctions against Russian oil companies, Lavrov asserted that the sanctions against Lukoil and Rosneft are unfair suppression of competitors.
He criticized Europe’s stance on the Ukraine war, comparing it to an unsuccessful doctor’s approach and noting that Europe ignored all opportunities to participate in resolving the crisis. He further stated that Europe has been the source of many problems.
Lavrov also pointed out that while there are strong voices in Europe regarding Russian assets, Brussels is trying to silence them.
On Syria, he said that U.S. support for separatist tendencies in northeastern Syria is a ticking time bomb.
In harsh remarks about Germany, the Foreign Minister stated that comments made by Friedrich Merz, the Chancellor of Germany, are full of Nazism and racism, and that he has retained old habits and genes inherited from his relatives.
Referring to regional issues, Lavrov stressed the importance of consolidating the principle of non-interference by non-coastal countries of the Caspian Sea in the region’s affairs.
The Foreign Minister added that Russia and Iran have ambitious plans to develop a joint geoeconomic space.
He concluded by saying that cooperation between Iran and Saudi Arabia should strengthen regional security.
