Japan and Kuwait Discuss Strait of Hormuz Reopening Amid U.S. Tensions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the foreign ministers of Japan and Kuwait engaged in talks today regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the assurance of safe shipping in this vital waterway, amid U.S.-instigated regional tensions. The discussions were reported by Anadolu Agency, citing Mehr News Agency.

A statement from Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi met with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who was visiting Japan. Regional security and energy supply were primary agenda items for the meeting held in Tokyo.

Motegi emphasized the importance Japan places on the prompt reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, followed by the resumption of negotiations between the United States and Iran to achieve a swift and final agreement.

The foreign ministers of both nations concurred on the critical importance of guaranteeing freedom and safety of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
