Israel Ups Representation in Lebanon Talks Amid Tensions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israel has elevated its level of representation in direct talks with Lebanon, according to sources cited by Axios.
Yossi Draznin, Deputy Advisor to Israel’s National Security Council, is scheduled to participate in a negotiation session held in the Naqoura region on Tuesday.
The Naqoura meeting is officially dedicated to examining economic cooperation in border areas, but its unofficial aim is to prevent the resumption of war, according to Axios sources.
Channel 15 of the Israeli regime’s television network announced that the Deputy Head of the National Security Council of this regime will meet with a Lebanese envoy and American representatives in Naqoura.
The first direct meeting between representatives of Israel and Lebanon took place on December 2.
Direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, mediated by the United States, are taking place while Tel Aviv continues to repeatedly violate Lebanon’s sovereignty and carry out military attacks in the south of the country.
The increased level of participation by Israeli representatives is more an attempt to manage field and political pressures and impose its security conditions within the framework of Resolution 1701 than a sign of a real desire to reduce tensions; a process whose outcome is still fraught with serious ambiguity.
