Over Half of Americans Disapprove of Trump’s Performance in Second Term, Poll Shows

A joint survey by The Economist and YouGov reveals that 56% of Americans disapprove of President Donald Trump’s performance in the first year of his second term, marking the lowest approval rating for a U.S. president in modern history.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a recent poll conducted by The Economist and YouGov indicates widespread dissatisfaction with President Donald Trump‘s performance during the first year of his second term. The survey, carried out from December 26 to 29 among American adults, found that only 39% of respondents approved of Trump’s actions, while 56% expressed disapproval.

Partisan divides were stark, with just 4% of Democrats approving of Trump’s performance compared to 95% who disapproved. Among Republicans, 88% approved, while 10% disapproved. Independent voters also leaned heavily against the president, with 27% approval and 63% disapproval.

Trump’s lowest approval ratings came from the 18-29 age group, where only 29% supported his performance, and 66% opposed it. His highest approval was among those over 65, at 45%, though even in this group, 54% disapproved.

The Economist and YouGov described these figures as the lowest approval ratings for any U.S. president in modern times. Separate polls by NORC and the Associated Press also reported declining public support for Trump’s economic policies.

Meanwhile, a joint study by Politico and Public First found that nearly half of Americans struggle to afford basic living expenses, including food, medicine, and utility bills. Trump has dismissed these findings, accusing sociologists of “lying about the state of the U.S. economy.”
