Turkey to Enhance Cyber Shield with New Drills and National Solutions

Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure is set to bolster its cyber defense capabilities through a series of national and international exercises, the development of domestic cyber intervention tools, and the establishment of robust data management centers, as outlined in its 2025 performance program.

According to the Economic Desk of Webangah News Agency, Turkey is implementing a comprehensive strategy to strengthen its cyber security defenses, detailed in the 2025 performance program of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. This initiative aligns with the broader 2024-2028 Strategic Plan, aiming to guarantee the security of all electronic communications, information technologies, and associated data and transactions.

Key objectives include the establishment, operation, and monitoring of data management centers. These centers will facilitate the collection and evaluation of data generated by various governmental bodies, municipalities, provincial administrations, and legal entities operating within smart transportation systems. The authorities are committed to defining the necessary operational procedures and principles for these critical tasks.

Under the National Smart Transportation Systems Architecture, the ministry anticipates the addition or enhancement of 20 service packages by the end of the current year. To ensure national cyber security, distinct policies, strategies, and objectives have been formulated for both public institutions and private entities. The plans encompass the creation of action plans, the coordination of relevant activities, the identification of critical infrastructure and their locations, and the establishment and auditing of centers essential for responding to cyber incidents.

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure is also focused on developing national cyber intervention tools and solutions to counter cyber attacks. Efforts are underway to raise awareness, provide training, and enhance public understanding of cybersecurity. Furthermore, regulations and principles are being developed for entities operating in this sector.

As reported by Turkey Today, in line with these objectives, eleven national and international cybersecurity drills are scheduled through the end of 2026. This number is projected to increase to twelve in 2027 and thirteen in 2028, demonstrating a sustained commitment to improving cyber resilience.
