Cuban Ambassador Condemns U.S. Policies as Violations of Free Trade and Human Rights

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Cuba‘s Ambassador to Ankara, Alejandro Francisco Díaz Palacios, has asserted that the policies enacted by the United States against his nation contravene the principles of free trade and all international human rights accords. He highlighted that the Cuban people continue to steadfastly resist and overcome obstacles, even amidst maximum pressure and sanctions imposed by the current U.S. administration.
The ambassador specifically referenced actions taken during Donald Trump’s presidency, stating that Trump, by adhering to the Monroe Doctrine, transformed Latin America into a U.S. preserve and hindered the establishment of free trade relations between regional nations and the rest of the world. Díaz Palacios also pointed to the U.S. incursions into Venezuelan territory in January and the alleged abduction of Nicolás Maduro, the president of Venezuela, a key oil supplier to Cuba.
He further noted that Washington’s imposition of a maritime blockade on Venezuela impedes the delivery of oil and other essential goods to Cuba. The White House has also reportedly threatened all of Havana’s trading partners with sanctions and heavy tariffs.
