Iran Envoy: Ending Aggression Key to Regional Stability, Cites Persian Gulf Security

Iran’s Ambassador to Italy, Mohammadreza Sabouri, has stated that halting aggressive actions by the U.S. and the Zionist regime, alongside adherence to international law, is crucial for de-escalating tensions and restoring lasting security to the region, particularly the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Mohammadreza Sabouri, Iran‘s Ambassador to Italy, informed an Italian magazine that the cessation of aggressive actions by the United States and the Zionist regime, coupled with respect for international law principles, represents the most significant condition for reducing tensions and re-establishing sustainable security in the region. He added that prior to recent developments, the Persian Gulf region, and specifically the Strait of Hormuz, had maintained an acceptable level of peace and stability.

Emphasizing Iran’s commitment to freedom of navigation, the ambassador clarified that the proposed “Persian Gulf Waterway Management Entity” mechanism possesses a technical, supervisory, and environmental nature. Its design aims to enhance maritime safety and improve crisis management, rather than restrict international transit.

The Iranian ambassador also referenced Tehran’s past cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, recalling that Iran had accepted the most extensive oversight within the framework of the JCPOA. He affirmed that Iran remains prepared for transparent cooperation within its international commitments, provided there is goodwill and respect for its legal rights.

In another segment of the interview, Sabouri characterized Iranophobia as a product of political and media campaigns, underscoring the Islamic Republic of Iran’s consistent emphasis on regional stability, dialogue with neighbors, and the diplomatic resolution of issues.

Concluding his remarks, he criticized Italy’s approach in recent years, describing its adherence to sanction policies as detrimental to Rome’s economy. He noted that the Iranian market still possesses significant capacity and that Italian companies are keen to resume cooperation.
