Russia Recalls Ambassador to Armenia Amid Yerevan’s EU Outreach

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Ambassador Sergey Kopyrkin has been recalled to Moscow. This decision stems from Armenia’s recent actions to strengthen its relationship with the European Union.
The ministry stated that Armenia’s move toward closer engagement with the EU negatively impacts its cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union. The efforts by the government of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to align more closely with the European Union have strained relations between Yerevan and Moscow.
Armenia maintains extensive trade and economic ties with Moscow and its partners within the Eurasian Economic Union. A rupture in these relationships could inflict significant damage on Armenia’s economy.
