Bernie Sanders Urges Trump to End ‘Illegal War’ in Iran, Rejects Renaming Strait of Hormuz

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders has responded to a post by President Donald Trump regarding the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Trump had suggested renaming the vital waterway to “Trump Strait” after claiming it was under U.S. control.
In a post on the X platform, Sanders stated, “No Mr. Trump, the American people do not want you to put your name on the Strait of Hormuz. They want you to end your illegal war in Iran, a war that has caused gasoline prices to rise to $5.69 per gallon and regular gas to $4.12 per gallon. You are a president, not a mad king, so act accordingly.”
Earlier, Trump had written on the Truth Social platform, “Now that the Strait of Hormuz is under the control of the United States of America, should we rename it Trump Strait?”
While Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed to have brought the Strait of Hormuz under control, information from international circles indicates that Iran maintains complete control over this strategic strait, with navigation subject to Iran’s security protocols. According to initial shipping data released on Thursday, six cargo ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz yesterday. This figure represents a decrease from 11 ships the previous day and is significantly lower than the ten-day average of approximately 13 vessels.
